A flower-cage valentine card with an embossed border, stamp marked Dobbs Patent, the printed verse reads 'What tender joys does love inspire/When meeting with return/Where no deceitful burning fire/Lies hid in Cupid's urn/Then oh how sweet is sincere love/What comfort twill entwine/E'en happier than the turtle dove/Shall be my Valentine', the floral centre lifting to reveal a dove escaping from a cage, the inscription reads 'Neglect me you lose me', 10 x 8in., c. 1840-50; and three other cards, one with a rebus floral centre, the other two cobweb cards with lithographed centres.
