An embossed and pierced paperlace valentine card, stamp marked Meek, with hand-coloured lithographed moveable centre operated by a pull-tag, when operated a pansie opens to reveal a cherub asleep inside, the lithographed verse below reads 'More lovely than the opening flower/Is my sweet Valentine/And cherished most the happy hour/That calls my lover - mine', mounted, 7 x 4½in., c. 1840-60; and another mounted cameo embossed valentine card with hand-coloured lithographed floral centre lifting to reveal a beautiful lady.
