Two valentine cards, one cameo embossed, the other pierced paperlace, one with paperlace centre heightened with gilt, lifting to frame a hand-coloured Cupid surrounded by a garland of flowers shaped as a heart applied to gauze, the pencilled inscription inside reads 'Be kind or civil false or true/Love I must but only you', the other with gauze centre shaped as a harp the strings of coiled metal thread, with fabric flowers above and below and a printed verse, S. 7 x 4in., L. 8 x 3¾in., c. 1850-70.
