An embossed paperlace valentine card with a pen and ink drawing of a heart dissected into various compartments each titled with human emotions, including 'Hatred', 'Affectation', 'Industry', 'Coquetry', 'Jealousy' and others, with an extensive 2pp. manuscript verse; together with 2 embossed paperlace cards with colour printed borders, one with hand-coloured and gilded details, the verse reads 'Life will have no charms for me/Unless its joys are shared with thee', 7¼ x 5in., 1860-80.
