VICTORIAN VALENTINES
A hand-made valentine card entitled 'A Lady's Dressing Case', with nine compartments interspersed with chromolithographic floral scarps, each compartment labelled with the contents, lifting to reveal a related human characteristic, for example 'A general beautifier', revealing the word 'Good humour', 4¼ x 5in., c. 1850; and tow other cards, one pierced paperlace with a cameo embossed centre on satin, the other with hand-coloured floral details and a pierced paperlace envelope centre, opening to reveal a silvered star, 8 x 6in., c. 1850.
