An embossed and paperlace valentine card, the hand-coloured lithographed centre depicting a bowl of Gooseberries, the verse above and below reads 'This peculiar Fruit good for Pudding and Pies/Is no ornament sure in your head, Sir, as eyes/If you in boyhood had e'er gone to school/They'd sure to have called you/A Gooseberry Fool', lifting to reveal a man with Gooseberry eyes, 7 x 4½in., c. 1860's; together with two other pierced paperlace valentine cards one stamp marked Mossman.
