LITHOGRAPHED VALENTINES
Two hand-coloured lithographed cards, one depicting a young lady standing on a terrace overlooking the sea being handed a love letter by Cupid whilst a yacht sails past with a crossed heart on its main-sail, one verse reads 'Upon this day selected from this year/For lovers to exchange their vows sincere/Those vows of love and constancy I send/To thee my bosom's idol and my friend/Yes dearest Maid my heart is thine & ne'er/Shall any others it's possession share/And in assurance that I'm only thine/Accept this pledge, A lover's Valentine', 9½ x 8in., c. 1840.
