This pair of mirrors appears to be closely based on a design by Thomas Johnson, plate 4 of Collection of Designs, which also has a pagoda cresting with rocaille enclosing a pastoral couple, flanked by HoHo birds, another bird in flight, and the dog perched on scrollwork on the right hand side. See Thomas Johnson and the English Rococo, Helena Hayward, plate 13, 1964. (2)
