Lot Essay

The original Monarch Junior of 1902 was an enlarged version of the Trade Mark model, and inherited its price and model number (¨5.10s., No.5). When the new Monarch Junior appeared in 1903, the old one was demoted to No.4 at ¨4.4s. Although the case had been re-designed, the price was further reduced to ¨3.3s. in the autumn of 1904, and the relationship between price and model number was lost.
