The journey, the purpose of which was to visit Queen Victoria in Scotland, was undertaken in September 1896. The Imperial Train, which travelled over both the Forth and Tay Bridges, completed the journey in four and a half hours.

When the members of the Imperial Family are finally laid to rest, which history would dictate to be in the Fortress of Saints Peter and Paul, St. Petersburg, it is widely expected that the Patriarch, Alexis II of Moscow and All Russia, will announce their canonisation.
