A fine and well presented 32ft : 1in wood and metal waterline model of the full rigged ship 'Cromartyshire' built by R A Wilson. Measurements overall -- 6 3/8 x 12½in (17.5 x 31.7cm)
With masts, spars, standing and running rigging, full set of sails set in a starboard reach and deck details including figurehead, bitts, capstan, deck rails, companionways, deck winches, deck houses, belaying rails, deck lights, ship's wheel and four ship's boats, two in davits. Finished in grey, white and black natural wood deck and mounted on a painted moulded seascape. Glazed case, legend, historical data.

Lot Essay

The Cromarthyshire was famous for having been involved in a collision with the French trans-Atlantic liner 'La Bourgogne' in 1898.
