The full-rigged ship Wanderer, 359 tons, was built to the order of E. Gibson at Hull in 1835, her intended routes - as noted by Lloyd's - being Hull to Liverpool and London to Jamaica. The West Indian destination suggests the sugar trade, although she soon began trading to the East and is recorded as sailing from Liverpool to Calcutta in 1839. By the mid-1840's, she was owned by M. White and trading from London to Ceylon, but she disappears from Lloyd's Register following another change of ownership in 1857.
