Although listed in Bendigo directories between 1859 and 1882, Melbourne directories first list Joseph & Company in 1865. The Australasian Sketcher 12th April 1879 notes that they were in Melbourne and Sandhurst and exhibitors at the Sandhurst Exhibition of 1879.
