Further details
Mrs Philip Newman (working 1870-1910) was a pupil and then assistant to John Brogden, the artist-goldsmith whose revivalist jewels received international recognition during the second half of the 19th Century. After his death in 1885 she set up her own business in Savile Row, using the skills of some of Brogden's former workmen combined with her own technical ability and flair for design. The resulting pieces from her workshop, mostly executed on commission, are usually very individual in character.
