A mid-19th century Italian carrara, rosso antico and giallo antico marble rotunda, the scale carved dome with acorn finial above a moulded frieze, pietre dure inlaid with flowerheads, the eight tapering column supports with Doric capitals and stepped square plinths, the plateau centred by a stellar inlay, on a marmo nero belgio platform -- 22in. (56cm.) high, 16in. (40½cm.) diam.
