A massive maiolica oviform storage jar, moulded to the upper and lower section with a raised band and applied with scrolling leaf-shaped handles to the shoulders beneath a flared neck, moulded to the upper centre with the coat-of-arms of the Medici family, painted in a typical palette with stylised scrolling foliage (extensive flaking and damages) 16th Century, possibly Montelupo -- 35in. high
