A bone ivory Diptych string gnomon dial, the cover with revolving brass solar/lunar volvelle with moon face, calibrated with calendar scales, the inner face with sun motif, hour scale in Roman numerals, the horizontal plate with compass box, blued needle with cap, the dial engraved with cardinal points and B with fleur-de-lys mark, with hour scale, later inscription Commt die Grunde, fruitwood segment with underside ivory plate inscribed Nurnberg - 2 1/8in.wide
