A rare late 18th Century lacquered brass portable equatorial telescope, signed on the horizontal base plate W. & S. JONES, Holborn London, the telescope with draw tube focusing, dust cap, on a cradle mount, with adjustable eyepiece and internal reflecting mirror, the vernier scale in Y shaped bearings, over an inverted arc divided 90°-0°-90°, mounted on an equatorial circle divided I-XII-I-XII, with tangent screw and clamp, mounted over a latitude arc divided 90°-0°-90°, supported by staff mount and buttress, with vernier scale and clamp, on base plate with bubble and cross bubble level, the circle divided 180°-0°-180°, with vernier scale and clamp on three levelling screws - 13¼in.(34.2cm)high
