A collection of 4 a.l.s. and 3 t.l.s., average length of 2pp. and 8 autographed postcards (one signed), dated London, Birmingham and Wantage, 11th December 1958 -- 19th January 1970, to Sir Gerald Kelly and Lady Kelly, referring to their meetings, thanking Sir Gerald enthusiastically for a sketch of Calais beach ("It is surely a perfect thing. Whistler never did better"), and warmly appreciating various occasions in their company, including a particular dinner which is the subject of 7 postcards ("I shall not forget the sauce around the sole, it sticks in my mind ... Oh but by Jove the nineteen hundred magnum, was there ever anything quite so simply splendid?"). (15)
