Christmas 1948," coloured plates, original cloth, gilt, dust-jacket (torn at edges). [Woods A125]; together with a 1p. t.l.s. by Churchill, of 11 lines, dated Chartwell, Westerham, Kent, December 22, 1948, to Layton, replying to a request for an interview. He would "like to see Mr. Cummings, although he has written many hard and unfriendly things about me," but declines the interview as he is "working night and day to get my book affairs settled before I leave for Monte Carlo ... I send you herewith a copy of a little book, with my Christmas Greetings;" and another related item. (3)
