Lot Essay

Ooby Dooby, written by North Texas students Wade Moore and Dick Penner was one of the more popular songs in Orbison's stage act. Roy Orbison and The Teen Kings recorded Orbison's second version of this song at Norman Petty's studio. The first version included in the above lot had been cut, on speculation, for Columbia records in Fort Worth. The label passed and instead released a copy by Sid King and The Five Strings, whom Columbia already had under control (see C.D. notes for Roy Orbison The Lonely - 18 Greatest Hits.
