Two similar Japanese gilt-bronze baluster vases with flaring necks one decorated in gilt and silver hirazogan and takazogan with swallows in flight among autumnal plants and flowers, the reverses with birds among plantain below scrolling bands to the neck, the other with birds among flowering peony, the reverse with further flowering branches below bands of stylised taotie to the neck -- 12in. high.
