A Regency mahogany pedestal sideboard, the rectangular recessed top with triangular pedimented top carved with foliage and gadrooning above four frieze drawers, each pedestal with a gadrooned carved cupboard door, enclosing deep drawers, one enclosing shelves,on anthemion-carved splayed legs one drawer with two paper labels in ink one torn Mr. H.A. Husland (?) Fowey (?), Eastwood Esq? South Woodford Essex the other with list of contents mainly silver flatware, the back with printed trade label, now indistinct, depicting eagle holding aloft drapery and assorted pieces of furniture and printed J. Taylor, Cabinet Maker. Upholsterer. Appraiser & Auctioneer, 27, High Street Colchester -- 76in. (193cm.) wide.

John Taylor of Colchester born 1775 died 1845 is recorded as carpenter, cabinet maker and undertaker aswell as appraiser and auctioneer. A Gothic rosewood glazed bookcase is recorded with what seems to be the same trade label. See Dictionary of English Furniture Makers, Bard and Gilbert, 1986, p. 877
