This is one of several works in gold executed after designs by Picasso and with his collaboration by the eminent silver and goldsmith Francois Hugo. Picasso was introduced to Hugo by Douglas Cooper in 1956 and during the following nine years they collaborated closely on the creation of a number of works in silver and gold.
