Lottie Reiniger was the inventor of the animated silhouette film and is also credited with the first full length cartoon "The Adventures of Prince Achmet " made in 1926. In 1976 she won a special jury prize at the Ottawa International Animated Film Festival for her film "Aucassin and Nicollette".

This lot is also sold with a letter from the artist to Mrs Hickman, dated 17 June 1972
