A CARVED COQUILLA NUT BOX ON STAND
Dutch, late 17th Century
The hinged lid with pierced foliate decoration and with an inset relief depicting the Adoration of the Shepherds, flanked by two saints on the extremities, the body and stand decorated with bands of acanthus leaves; the underside of the body also carved in relief with figures, above the foot carved with the Virgin and Child and saints flanked by male saints and two music making angels to the rear, set on an ebonised molded circular wood socle with an illegible inscription on the underside.
Very minor cracks and losses.
