Katabori, stained boxwood; a compact model of a monkey in the grip of an octopus, its fur meticulously rendered and forming an effective contrast with the smooth surface of the octopus, the monkey's eyes inlaid in light and dark horn, the octopus's eyes inlaid in dark horn, the himotoshi formed by the right leg, signed with incised and stained characters on a rectangular reserve underneath the monkey's left haunch Tomokazu
