GOLDSCHMIDT, E. Ph. Sixteen notebooks, all autograph except perhaps one, and seven folders with loose-leaf autograph notes, all relating to early printed books. [Vienna and London: ca. 1910 - ca. 1940].
23 volumes, 8° and 4°. (Some leaves frayed.) Buckram, cloth ring-binders and disbound.
The collection includes an early and very incomplete draft for Medieval Texts and their First Appearance in Print (1943), Goldschmidt's most original work; some entries have more detail than the published text. A draft for a list of the surviving books from Hieronymus Münzer's library (see Goldschmidt's Hieronymus Münzer und seine Bibliothek 1938). Also provenance tables, indices to Proctor and the Morgan-Bennett catalogue, and miscellaneous notes on incunable printers. (23)
