Charlie Shaw was born in Twechar on 21st September 1885 and died of pneumonia in New York on 27th March 1938. He joined Celtic in May 1913 from Queen's Park Rangers and made his debut for the Parkhead Club against Third Lanark on 6th May the same season. He made 436 appearances for Celtic and had 240 shut-outs. Surprisingly, Shaw was never capped by Scotland at International level during his successful period with the club when he won 6 League Championship and two Scottish Cup medals.
