A drawer-type rectangular vesta case of oval section, the front engraved with the masthead of The Times newspaper, the date 1926, and a latin motto, Goldsmiths and Silversmiths, London 1926 - 2.3in.

This type of case was reputedly given by the then proprietor of The Times to all those who worked through the 1926 General strike. The time on the masthead stands at 1.24 A.M., refering to the time the first copy of May 25th was issued.
