Album of six platinum prints, each approx. 9¼ x 11¼ in., titled in ink on mounts, with 5½ pp. manuscript text in form of letter from the manager, Edward [?] to his parents, blue morocco, gilt, g.e., oblong 4to; and an album of seventy-five albumen prints, each approx. 8 x 10¾ in., fifteen each with credit in the negative Scowen & Co., titled in ink on mounts, half leather, gilt, g.e., oblong 4to. Lot Essay

The letter, explaining the album is a Christmas gift, states the photographer was brought from Colombo. The client was less than happy with the results claiming that the photograph of part of the estate made it look very much prettier than it did in reality. Detailed descriptions are given of the photographs and of the lifestyle of the manager.
