Lot Essay

The Canon Original was eseentially a later-produced Canon Hansa without the 'Hansa' name engraved on the top plate. The production run of the Canon Hansa is given by Dechert as 10/1935 to 6/1940 who states '...since Hansa outnumber Originals by three or four to one it is less confusing to use that name to designate the entire production'.
