An English ivory and red stained chess set, the ring turned pieces profusely carved with beaded and leaf ornament of Hastilow style turned on an ornamental lathe, the knights with plumed helmets, the rooks of turetted form -- king 5½in. (14cm.), pawn 3in. (7.6cm.); with conforming draft set and diabolos.
