A 19th century English carved and turned ivory and red stained chess set, in the Calvert style, the pieces on ovoid stems, kings and queens with openwork collars, the knights with manes carved to one side, the rooks raised on a bulbous stem with baluster turret, the pawns with turned finials -- king 4in.
