An early 19th century Rajahstan red and green stained ivory chess set, heightened in gilt, the kings and queens in the form of elephants transporting figures in howdahs, the rooks similarly modelled, the knights with horsmen upon caparisoned steeds -- the kings 5½in. (14cm.) high, the pawns 2½in.(6.5cm.) high.
