A Japanese lacquered and giltwood shrine with foliate gilt metal mounts fitted with two hinged doors on a separate stand, containing a standing Buddha on a raised lotus base on hexagonal stand, two further seated Buddhas on a raised stand with pierced gallery, and a miniature shrine with hinged doors opening to reveal a standing Buddha dressed in long flowing robes, all within a balustrade interior above sliding drawers decorated with river landscapes -- the shrine 58in. high; a smaller lacquered and giltwood shrine with two hinged doors carved with panels of figures among pine and rockwork -- 29¼in. high; and a Chinese rectangular wooden chest with hinged metal mounts decorated with calligraphy, fitted on a separate stand -- 32½in. high.
