A pair of Imari ovoid vases painted in underglaze blue, iron red and gilt with shaped panels of birds among the Three Friends on a ground of scattered kiku heads and geometric patterns, the necks with roundels of shrews among fruiting vines flanked by boys -- 12½in. high; and another vase similarly decorated with panels of the Three Friends alternating with stylised ho-o -- 15½in. high.
