A walnut and elm vargueno, with rectangular top above a hinged twin panelled fall front decorated with interwoven arabesques centred by lozenges, enclosing interior of seven ebonised and parcel-gilt drawers around a later altar with a panel of the Madonna and Child, a secret drawer within, the stand with lopers carved with grotesque masks above tressle end supports with fluted baluster columns flanked by a spirally gadrooned support joined by an arcaded stretcher, on scroll feet, Spanish, the cabinet 17th century, the stand of a later date -- 37in. (94cm.) wide.
