Further details
Samuel Rogers (1763-1855) published three volumes of poetry in 1792, these entitled "The Pleasures of Memory, The Pleasures of Imagination and The Pleasures of Hope". Although he was friendly with Fox, Sheridan, Byron, Wordsworth and Shelley, his own work was not in the same league as that of his contemporaries. After his death his property was auctioned at Messrs. Christie's, and one can asumme that the descendants of the vendor purchased this set of salt cellars at the sale.
