Lot Essay

George Edward Studdy was born in Devon in 1878 and after studying art at Heatherley's, specialised in illustrations for children and contributed to Punch and The Graphic.

He created the puppy Bonzo in November 1922, and subsequently published the Bonzo Annual, as well as a broad range of related cards, books and car mascots
