A wooden cigar box, commemorating "H. R. H., The Prince of Wales' Tour (S.A.) 1925", with a hand-painted central oval depicting the fleur de lys of the Prince of Wales, surrounded by approximately 100 other autographs of the Royal Party, including "Edward P.", the inside lid commemorating "H. R. H., Prince George's Tour (S.A.) 1934", autographed by George, Duke of York and members of the Royal Party, a secondary wooden cover commemorating the "Royal Tour of South Africa and the Rhodesia's", signed by George VI and the Queen Mother, Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret, 9 x 10 x 2½in., in a protective leather case, stamped "A.B.vdHoven."; together with 2 letters relating to the box and 3 commemorative pieces of chocolate for the 1947 Tour.

Provenance: Mr A. B. van der Hoven, Chief Steward of the Royal Train.
The box was originally autographed by Edward, Prince of Wales during his South African Tour in 1925. Mr van der Hoven was also Chief Steward on the subsequent Royal Tours of 1934 and 1947 during which time he collected the remaining autographs. Also included in the lot is his special pass for the Royal Tour of 1925.
