A 1p. a.l.s. of 9 lines, dated 18 Fitzroy Square, Sunday Morning [c. 1942], to Miss Fothergill, referring to her brother, John Fothergill: "John is busy eating and I must act, so I will write for him as I can wait no longer," and inviting her and a friend to dine before going to a Music Hall. The letter includes a small pen and ink sketch of Fothergill eating; and is sold with a pen and ink cartoon drawing of: "Mr. Fothergill lecturing on the 'Morality of Booksellers,'" signed and inscribed to Joan Fothergill, 8¾ x 7in.
