A 2pp. letter to Sir Charles Hunt, dated Paris April 17th 1818, regretting it is not in his power to find a place in the French government for a Mon. Borel: "I have in my hands the settlement of the Claims of the different Nations of Europe for their subjects. But it is impossible for me to interfere in the details of these Claims ... I should not only lose my character; but I then wd. involve myuself in a series of difficulties from which I would never extricate myself." In the second paragraph, he reiterates the reasons why he cannot "in any manner interfere in the affairs between the King of France's govt. & Monsr. Borel," 4°, with 2 integral blanks.
