A slender tapering oviform vase painted and gilt with overlapping shaped panels of bijin and attendants seated beneath autumnal maple trees practicing the art of calligraphy and birds in flight above swirling waters beside chrysanthemums attached to canes, all on a ground of a river lined with bamboo and rockwork within formal borders of stylised flowerheads, foliage and key-pattern to the neck and foot -- 12½in. high, signed Kinkozan and with double gourd pot seal mark to one panel.
