A comprehensive Victorian Scottish silver-gilt floral and foliate-decorated dessert service, comprising: a table centrepiece, the domed circular base with contemporary presentation inscription, with four elaborate scrolling branches fitted with detachable circular bon-bon dishes, the central stem applied with openwork scrolls and fitted with a detachable shaped circular fruit bowl - 17in., a set of four knopped candlesticks, the tops unscrewing to hold shaped circular fruit bowls - 10in., a pair of matching but larger candlesticks/fruit bowls - 11in., a pair of shaped oval fruit bowls on detachable oval bases - 7¼in., and a set of four spiral-fluted strawberry bowls chased with fruit - 9in., various Victorian dates and makers, some of the dishes bearing Georgian hallmarks, the added pieces later-hallmarked, in a metal-bound plate chest - 434oz.
