BARNETT, Charles John (1910-1993) -- A 2pp. a.l.s by Barnett, dated Cowcombe House, Nr. Chalford, Gloucestershire, 14th November 1958, to Robin McConnell, on batsmanship: "watch the ball. Don't just look at it -- see if you cannot see the seam on the ball -- if you can try to see the stiches. To do this you will have to watch up until it hits the bat right under your nose. Then you won't miss it will you? Not many batsman remember to watch the ball -- sooner or later they get their head up and of course miss hit it or miss it;" together with four other a.l.s., by Richard Young, Hunter Hendry, Roger Blunt and Francis Mann.
