The movement with outside countwheel striking on a single bell, with silk suspension, the silvered chapter-ring enclosing an engine-engraved brass roundel, inscribed A.C.Decauville, A Paris, enclosed by a bezel worked with flowerheads and flanked by fluted pilasters, the moulded cornice cast with a continuous band of lotus, surmounted by a stepped pediment centred by an urn with spiral glass rod simulating water, three portrait lion masks to the body each issuing further spiral glass rods, with electro-plated clam-shell reservoirs, the clock frieze centred by a bearded portrait mask issuing a spiral glass rod, enclosed by a foliage-cast border, the rectangular pierced arcaded base fitted with a cut-glass reservoir, on lotus-cast rectangular base ending in winged griffen feet, on rounded rectangular ebonised plinth with glass dome (cracked)
