Lot Essay

Published as Huon of Bordeaux, done into English by Sir John Bourchier, Lord Berners, retold by Robert Steele, London: George Allen, 1895. The book was illustrated with 22 black and white illustrations by Mason, who had earlier illustrated Steele's The Story of Alexander, 1894, uniform to this edition. Mason worked largely for George Allen in the 1890's his style borrowed from Walter Crane and William Morris.
