Lot Essay

Margaret Tarrant was a prolific illustrator, her first work being for Kingsley's Water Babies, 1908. She also illustrated Browning's Pied Piper, 1912 and Lewis Carroll's Alice, 1916. Her illustrations in a clear, delicate colouring and line are best seen in her "Flowers and Fairies" books. Peter Pan was a preparatory project. The drawings here are marked for publication.
