A LATE VICTORIAN ROSEWOOD AND SATINWOOD BANDED MUSIC CABINET
IN THE MANNER OF COLLINSON AND LOCK

The moulded rectangular top with canted angles, surmounted by a turned baluster gallery, the frieze fitted with a panelled cupboard door, inlaid with engraved ivory figures of musicians, within ribbon-ties and foliage, on boxwood lined square tapering supports and scrolled toes, joined by a rectangular undertier with mirrored back panel

Lot Essay

The ivory inlay on this cabinet is typical of the neo-Renaissance designs of Stephen Webb who collaborated with G.J.S. Lock on a number of items of furniture. Webb was a key figure in the revival of the use of ivory inlay in the last quarter of the 19th Century
